According to the order of Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the crown prince of the emirate, the salaries of imams and muezzins in Dubai will be increased.
This increase includes those who serve in mosques that operate under the supervision of the Department of Islamic Affairs and Charitable Activities in Dubai.
According to Sheikh Hamdan, imams are religious leaders who guide believers to live according to the principles of Islam. Muezzins are officials who give the call to prayer.
The salary increase was also ordered by Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai - also recognizing the missionaries' dedication to overseeing religious affairs and upholding socially constructive principles.
